Devin Despain

Devin is passionate about early stage companies. After graduating with a BS in Accounting from Brigham Young University, he spent almost 3 years in software consulting, followed by a year of Corporate Strategy at a private equity portfolio company. During this time, Devin gained an appreciation for the challenge and sense of accomplishment that comes with early stage companies, and decided to enroll in the MBA program to learn about and pursue opportunities in venture.
During the MBA program, Devin has interned at Philo Ventures, a Utah based venture studio and venture capital firm. His role included diligence and recommending investments in early stage companies like Alysio, along with sourcing and analyzing internal opportunities. He has also engaged in smaller projects for local startups and venture firms doing research and assisting with capital raising. The capstone event of his first year was participating on the Global Final team for VCIC, helping earn BYU a second place finish in the competition.
Outside of work and school, Devin enjoys traveling with his wife and 2 kids, cycling, and is a passionate fan of most sports, especially if it involves fantasy sports he can make his own projections for.
